Poet & Curator
 

Cassandra Barnett (Raukawa/Ngaati Huri) is a writer of poetry, art essays and speculative fiction about cultural, indigenous and ecological futures. Her work has appeared in many national and international journals, anthologies, and arts and literary festivals. Recent publications include the poetry chapbook How | Hao, and the edited anthology of contemporary Māori artists, Ka Mua, Ka Muri. Cassandra is a founding member of the publishing collective Taraheke, and runs workshops on art and whenua writing in many corners of the country. She is also Pouako / Educator at Te Whare Taonga o Waikato Museum and Gallery.

Join us to celebrate National Poetry Day at Waikato Museum. Our invited poets Dadon Rowell and Peter Dornauf will read their poems then curators will guide you through some of the exhibitions. Poet Cassandra Barnett will facilitate poetry writing and reading.

This event is in partnership with Waikato Museum and National Poetry Day.
