Join Richard von Sturmer and Tracey Slaughter  at the launch of Richard's new book Walking with Rocks, Dreaming with Rivers: My Year in the Waikato at Poppies Bookshop.

 

This was Richard's main writing project for his 2020 writer's residency at the University of Waikato. In the book he explores small towns and geographic features of the Waikato region. It's an interweaving of poetry, prose narrative and photography (98 colour photographs).

 

Come and meet Richard, enjoy some light refreshments and hear him read some extracts. This event is supported by Poppies Bookshop

Author

Richard von Sturmer is a long time Zen practitioner and an acclaimed New Zealand writer, poet, lyricist and performer. He is well known for having written the lyrics to Blam Blam Blam’s There is No Depression in New Zealand, which has become the country’s alternative national anthem. His poetry has been included in An Anthology of New Zealand Poetry (Oxford University Press, 1997) and Best New Zealand Poems 2003, 2006 and 2008. Eight collections of his writing have been published, with Titus Books bringing out Resonating Distances in 2022.
